Effective March 19, Mayor George Spencer issued a local disaster declaration for The Hills, Texas, due to the public health emergency related to COVID-19. This is a preparatory declaration for the purpose of being able to recover reimbursement funds for unforeseen additional operating expenses that may result from a prolonged response to this event. The declaration emphasizes the fundamental precautions issued by the CDC, as well as Governor Abbott’s Executive Order and proclamation that COVID-19 poses an imminent threat of disaster in the state and declaring a state of disaster for all counties in Texas.
