Travis County and participating jurisdictions will hold a public meeting at 4 p.m. Jan. 23 at Lakeway City Hall, 1102 Lohman's Crossing, to gather public input for a countywide Hazard Mitigation Plan.
Participating jurisdictions include and the cities of Lakeway, Pflugerville, Sunset Valley and Manor and the Village of the Hills. The public is invited and encouraged to attend the meeting.
The purpose of the public meeting is to provide a project overview from project consultant H2O Partners, Inc. and solicit information from citizens. Public input will help the project team to identify and analyze potential hazards affecting residents and recommend possible actions to reduce their impact. Hazards can include floods, tornadoes, wildfires, winter storms and other major disasters.
The goal of the Hazard Mitigation Plan is to minimize or eliminate the long-term risk to human life and property from known hazards by identifying and implementing cost-effective mitigation actions. Mitigation is defined by the Federal Emergency Management Agency as sustained actions taken to reduce or eliminate long-term risk to people and property from hazards and their effects.
